Instrument tuition

Music is how we can express ourselves. Seeing children eagerly playing different instruments gives a wonderful feeling and, in turn, the courage and strength to guide them on that journey.

Lõvimeri was founded from the start as a music-focused kindergarten, and since the 2010/2011 school year instrument tuition has been a natural part of our curriculum. We approach instrument tuition calmly and child-first — the chosen instrument must match the child's age, interest and readiness.

Every child can choose an instrument from Lõvimeri's collection — including the small kannel (Estonian zither), harp, ukulele, recorder, chime bars, piano and other instruments suited to children. Our aim isn't to raise musicians, but to give the child one more form of expression and support their growth through music.

Individual lessons

Instrument lessons take place once a week as individual sessions. Depending on the project and the children's progress we also play as an ensemble — in the spring we have formed kindergarten bands, which have given the children an especially deep experience.

Notation and rhythm

Instrument tuition is supported by a notation-and-rhythm class that playfully lays the foundation for musical literacy and rhythmic feel.

Every child finds an instrument that suits them

A child can try, discover and find a form of expression that suits them. A Lõvimeri graduate leaves with the basics of one instrument — a good start for continuing at music school, or simply for making music at home.
