Speech therapy service
In supporting a child's development we value early recognition and close cooperation with the parents. Lõvimeri employs a highly qualified speech therapist who carries out a speech assessment at least once a year to notice a child's speech and communication needs and to advise the parents on what to do next. Our aim isn't to label a child but to support their development in time, calmly and in the most natural way possible. For those who need extra support we draw up an individual development plan and offer individual sessions up to three times a week.
Session length is up to 45 minutes. Prices apply from 1 September 2024.
Kaia Maripuu
Speech therapist · At Lõvimeri since 2015
I graduated from the University of Tartu in 1981 and have worked in the same field for many years, alongside leadership and counselling roles. I hold the highest professional qualification level — Speech Therapist, level 8.
My core work is assessing children's speech, providing speech therapy, and advising parents and educators, including recommending appropriate development activities and environments. I have worked with children from four months to twenty-two years old — as a speech therapist in kindergartens, schools, speech therapy clinics, rehabilitation centres, learning-support centres and assessment committees.
Alongside my main work I have trained early-childhood teachers, speech-therapy students at the University of Tartu, and special-education teachers and kindergarten teachers at Tallinn University; produced learning materials, written articles and represented the field in the media.
Early recognition and starting development activities quickly are the most important key to speech-therapy work. In all my years there has not been a single child with whom I couldn't build a connection — I hope that always continues.
